(Buffalo, NY) -- Amherst Doctor James Corasanti was sentenced to the maximum allowed by law Thursday morning in Erie County Court. He will face one year in jail after a jury found him guilty of misdemeanor D.W.I., but acquitted him of all serious charges related to the death of 18-year-old Alexandria Rice.
Corasanti was placed in handcuffs after the sentence was read by the judge. He will spend the next year behind bars at the Erie County Correctional Facility in Alden. His drivers license has been revoked for 6 months and he has to pay a $1000 fine. Once Corasanti's jail time is completed, he will have to install an ignition interlock system on his car to prevent him from driving while intoxicated.
