Cops Catch Suspected American Legion Bandit

NIAGARA FALLS, NY (WKBW) - The suspect in the robbery of an American Legion Post in Niagara Falls has been captured, according to the Niagara Gazette.

Police picked-up Angelo Bauer outside his mother's home just before 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Bauer has been charged with the July 4 robbery of the American Legion Cadille Post 1664 in Niagara Falls, when he allegedly claimed to be war veteran who had been injured and heckled by passer-byes upon his return. (Original Story)

Surveillance video seen first on Eyewitness News, shows the man suspected to be Bauer reaching into a donation jar and grabbing cash from the register twice.

Police were able to finally catch-up to Bauer after a receiving a tip call from a neighbor who had seen the story and picture in the Niagara Gazette.

Bauer is expected to be arraigned on petit larceny charges later Monday.
