STATEMENT FROM CONGRESSMAN BRIAN HIGGINS ON THE PASSING OF WILLIAM "BILLY" DELMONT, LONGTIME PUBLISHER OF THE FRONT PAGE NEWS, ERIE COMMUNITY COLLEGE TRUSTEE AND OFFICIAL OF THE ERIE COUNTY CONSERVATIVE PARTY
"It is with a tremendous sadness that we learned of passing of our friend Billy Delmont.
“As a journalist, a public official and political leader, Billy served our community with honor and integrity for many, many years.
“Billy cared deeply about his community, extending from his proud hometown of Lackawanna to all of Western New York. With his unique ability to put politics aside to focus on personal relationships, Billy was among the most effective behind-the-scenes advocates for our region. We were fortunate to benefit from his service.
“On a personal level, I was honored to count Billy as a close confidant and friend. From the time of my first election to the Buffalo Common Council up to and including my time as a member of Congress, I was honored to be the recipient of Billy's wise counsel. While I always valued that counsel tremendously, I valued our personal friendship all the more. I will miss our regular dinners at Curly's, in the heart of his beloved hometown, where we would hash out the issues of the day.
“Our deepest condolences are extended to the Delmont family, and to Billy's many friends and supporters."
