BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - During the current government shutdown, Congressman Chris Collins has suspended his own pay.
In a letter, Collins wrote:
"I have been informed that in the event of an appropriations lapse and a subsequent government shutdown, that Members of Congress would continue receiving their salary.
In the event of an appropriation lapse, please withhold my pay.
Collins also sent out this tweet Tuesday afternoon:
