Company Gives Back

A local company works to get their feet off the ground and t-shirts into the hands of those who need it most.
"Bill" 80, stumbled on some tough times. He said the Altamont house was his savior.
"I found a home here. They treat me really nice," Bills said.
Director of the Altamont Program Thomas Green explains.
"The Altamont house is a 32 bed facility that houses the chronically, homeless, those filled with mental health issues or alcohol and drugs or those involved with criminal justice system," Green said.
The group provides is a non-profit. It provides the basic needs to people with the help from the community. That's where a t-shirt company called "You and Who" comes in. The group will give you the shirt off their back.
"For every shirt we sell we donate a matching shirt for someone in need. So you get one for you and you get one for who," You and Who Owner Dan Giagante said.
Giagante uses printers from another local company called SoCorp. Artists from all across the country, including right here in Western New York, designed the logos on the shirts.
"This shirt was designed by a Salt Lake City artist. So every time we sell her shirt we donate to a Salt Lake City shelter. I'm wearing a shirt done by a Buffalo artist so then we give shirts to a Buffalo shelter," Gigante said.
Bill said this shirt is unique and special to him and others who receive the donation.
"The shirt made me feel a little bit better, too" Bill said.
Green said the shirts do even more.
"Many times guys that come in only have the things they have on their back. We are able to furnish them with not only clothing, used clothing, we give them new t-shirts. It has help in many ways to uplift their self-esteem," Green said.
Shirts are not the only donation. Dan said they also give money for meals instead of a t-shirt.
As for Bill, he's getting compliments all over town.
"When the girls came by with burritos they said oh you are wearing a You and Who shirt. They really made a big deal of it," Bills said.
