East Aurora, N.Y. (WKBW) - A Consignment shop, Marketing Firm, and special sweet treats for dogs are all the companies operated by Jacob Becker. He built this resume quickly, after he graduated less than a year ago.
"I was built to do business," Becker said.
Becker said his interests started at young age.
"It all started in middle school. I'd buy candy bars at wholesale for about $0.32 then sell them for a dollar. It was great for a while until the principal got hold of it and I got suspended for that," Becker said.
That didn't stop him. He went to college, graduated, and began his business ventures. Becker's sister started the second hand store called "The Walk in Closet" four years ago but things took off when Becker took over the marketing in the Fall. When that happened, he decided to start the "Marketing Mayor" taking on many clients in the past year.
His last and very successful company is called Canine Cupcakes, which are being sold across Western New York and even other parts of the country. Becker said what makes him successful is understanding what goes into owning your own business.
"You almost have to accept the fact that you are not going to be living it up in the beginning. That's where the hard work and the dedication comes in. But it is all worth it in the end if you make those sacrifices initially," Becker said.
Canine Cupcakes is not only a hit with the dogs, but owners love to spoil their little ones. Becker said to take great care in the product that you chose to sell.
"Everyone likes a unique product. You've seen that story before."
Becker said it takes time, dedication, and a catchy product to be successful. He said with hard work, he plans to keep climbing the ladder of business success.
