Cold Front Causes Soaking Rain and Cooler Temperatures

Thursday and early Friday's soaking rain brought more than an inch of precipitation to western New York counties and much cooler temperatures for the upcoming weekend.

Friday's temperatures plummeted nearly 30 degrees from Thursday's high temperature of 78 at the Buffalo National Weather Service Office at the International Airport. Buffalo recorded 7 of the last 8 days with temperatures in the 70s and 80s before the mercury dipped into the 40s early Friday and now temperatures will remain in the 50s and low 60s for the upcoming weekend.

The normal amount of rainfall up to May 16 is 1.67", unofficially Buffalo recorded 2.69" for the month so far, making it just over an inch above average.
