Cleanup Continues After Flash Flood

LITTLE VALLEY, NY (WKBW) - Residents and fire crews continued to cleanup the mess left by flash flood that struck the Cattaraugus County village of Little Valley Thursday.

The area was hit by three inches of rain in a short period of time, while the waters from the nearby mountains rushed down into the valley, causing water depths of more than two-feet in areas.

The village remains under a State of Emergency until at least Monday, while Fourth Street in the Village of Little Valley remains closed to all but local traffic.

County Emergency Services is assisting with the pick-up of debris and damaged items through Monday, and officials are reminding residents to photograph and document all property and item damage so it can be reported to the county.
