Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW-TV) - One by one, family members,
"he will be sadly missed," Says cousin Victoria Johnson.
And friends, "sometimes bad things happen to good people," says a former classmate, all filed into the Durham Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church Thursday afternoon.
They came to remember the life of Danyell Mackin-- one of four victims shot dead at The City Grill last Saturday morning.
Danyell, who was born and raised in Buffalo, had moved with his wife and two young children to Austin, TX. The relocation, family members say, was to start a better life. Sadly, his recent return to Buffalo, to celebrate his one year wedding anniversary, lead to his death.
"That Saturday (Aug., 14th) we were going to celebrate with the whole family-- everyone--- but sadly that did not happen," says Johnson. Instead, the family is celebrating his life-- calling him a "stand up guy" who put family first and made sacrifices for his wife and children.
Family and friends also calling for justice-- hoping the person responsible for the shootings is caught. "I just hope he comes forth-- and someone gets him-- but like the pastor in there said we're going to pray for him too," Johnson said.
