The cover story in today's Business First includes a directory focusing on the upcoming open houses for WNY Catholic high schools. Area private high schools are hosting open houses at the end of September and the beginning of October. The listing is designed as a guide for parents and is complete with the Business First academic rankings for schools, where Nardin tops the list. The next admission exam for WNY Catholic high schools is slated for November 16th.

Business owner Scott Freilich, who founded Top Shelf Music on Hertel Ave., is ready to retire. He's in the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame. A report in today's Business First says the business is now up for sale. Top Shelf does more than 1,000 repairs on vintage guitars each year.

Business First held its second annual HR Leadership Awards yesterday at the Adam's Mark, sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield. Various companies were recognized for their human resources initiatives and leadership. Marie Olson from the Sisters of St. Francis received the lifetime achievement award. Next week, Business First will host its Women of Influence awards, recognizing 25 women in the community. That luncheon will be held on Tuesday at Salvatore's Italian Gardens.
