NIAGARA FALLS, NY (WKBW) - The toxic nightmare known as Love Canal is once again cause for concern more than 30 years later.

Several former residents, who were children when the toxic site was evacuated in the late 1970's, are now becoming sick.

"To me this is way beyond a coincidence," said Laura Racine, who graduated sixth grade at the 93rd Street School on the Love Canal site in 1979 and is suffering from mysterious illnesses.

Racine went to her high school reunion recently and discovered many of her classmates who attended the elementary school are also sick.

Dozens of them gathered for a meeting Tuesday night at the Evening Star Lounge on Niagara Falls Boulevard.

"We have a lot of people that are sick. What we're looking for are patterns," said attorney Christen Civiletto Morris, who represents current residents who live just outside the emergency zone and are coming down with illnesses as well.

"When does this stop? It just keeps going," Racine said. "There's people who live there. It's generation after generation."
