Cheektowaga Travelers Advisory

June 29, 2013 Updated Jun 29, 2013 at 4:45 PM EDT

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) today announced that an emergency sewer line repair will require the closure of a portion of the Wehrle-Kensington roundabout on NY Route 240, Harlem Road, in the town of Cheektowaga, Erie County, beginning on Monday, July 1. The travel lane of the Kensington Avenue roundabout providing access to Kensington Avenue eastbound, Wehrle Drive eastbound, and Harlem Road northbound, will be closed. Motorists will be directed to follow a posted detour route along Harlem Road southbound to the Cleveland Drive roundabout, where they may access Harlem Road northbound. Work will last for approximately three days.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
