Cheektowaga Police Warn Public About Rash of Burglaries

October 20, 2011 Updated Oct 20, 2011 at 6:03 PM EDT

(WKBW release) Cheektowaga Police said Thursday they are investigating several residential burglaries which took place over the last two nights in the Borden/ Losson / French Road areas.

In each of the cases the suspect(s) entered the houses of residents while they were home asleep and stole computers, TVs and stereo equipment.

Police have no leads in the cases but note that in all but one of the cases the doors of the homes were left unlocked prior to going to sleep for the night.  In most of the cases the intruders came in through sliding glass patio doors.

The burglaries occurred on Dubonnet Dr., Brentwood Dr., Basswood Dr. and Borden Rd.    A vehicle on Basswood was also broken into.  Police believe that all of the incidents occurred between midnight and 5 a.m.

Police are advising all residents to lock their doors and windows at night on their homes and vehicles and to call 911 if they see anything unusual or suspicious.  They are also asking neighbors to be extra alert and be the eyes and ears of the community.   If anyone has any information on these crimes please call the Cheektowaga Police Detective Bureau at 686-3505.
