Chautauqua County High School Football Player Damon Janes Has Died From His Injuries

The following statement and photo are from the parents and family of Damon Janes:

Damon W. Janes, 16, a Junior who attended Brocton Central School, lost his fight and went to be with the Lord following his injury resulting from helmet-to-helmet collision during a Westfield/Brocton varsity football game.

His parents wish to express their gratitude to those who have supported and prayed for Damon and his family, and continue to request that their privacy be respected at this time.

(PORTVILLE, NY) WKBW -- A Chautauqua County high school football player is in critical condition Monday morning, after a serious helmet-to-helmet collision during a game on Friday night. 16-year-old Damon Janes is a running back for the Westfield-Brocton football team. The junior sustained a serious injury at Friday night's away game against Portville. Janes reportedly lost consciousness after a collision in the third quarter. The teen is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit at Women and Children's hospital.
