BUFFALO, June 9, 2011 ( release)– A total of 11,619 runners and walkers – all full-time workers who entered as part of corporate teams – from 389 Western New York companies competed tonight in the 31st running of the Chase Corporate Challenge at Delaware Park.
The 3.5-mile road race took off at 6:45 p.m. and companies celebrated post-race in more than 300 hospitality tents. The total size of participants represented a 17-percent improvement over the 9,990 attracted two years ago and was slightly larger than the 11,456 in 2010.
The Chase Corporate Challenge has become the unofficial kick-off of summer for the business community. Employees from businesses of all sizes and industry groups took part for healthy competition, camaraderie, and a significant contribution to the community. The JPMorgan Chase Foundation, in celebration of the Corporate Challenge, made a donation to Child Care Resource Network, a not-for-profit Child Care Resource and Referral Agency committed to the development of early care and education for children in Erie County.
The 10 largest participating companies were: Buffalo Public Schools (476 entrants, up from 342 in 2010); Kaleida Health (449); Tops Friendly Markets (410, up from 127); HSBC (247, up from 190); Moog (238, up from 194); Catholic Health (228); University at Buffalo (215, up from 178); M&T Bank (208); Wegmans (189); Seneca Gaming (186, up from 151).

The first-place men’s, women’s and mixed teams will earn a trip to the next JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Championship, to be held in the spring of 2012, location TBD.
The Chase Corporate Challenge in Buffalo is part of the 12-city, six-country, five-continent JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Series with more than 250,000 participants projected to enter worldwide in 2011.
