BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - There are a few changes in the works for Sunday's upcoming Buffalo Marathon.
An estimated seven thousand runners will take part in the race, which is a 20% increase over last year. Those runners will have a brand new race course, because of a three year reconstruction project along Ohio St.
The new course eliminates six miles that had previously been run along Buffalo's Outer Harbor.
There are also new planned security measures, with uniformed and plain-clothes police officers lining the course, along with bomb sniffing dogs.
Runners who want to check in a change of clothes will have to put them in clear plastic bags, which will be provided by race organizers.
