Catholic Health seeks more parking at new HQ

The need for more parking at its downtown Buffalo corporate headquarters and training center is prompting the development team for Catholic Health's new building to seek city approval for additional on-site parking.

Representatives from Uniland Development Co. and Catholic Health will be meeting with the Buffalo Planning Board on May 21 to present a proposal to add, possibly, as many as 200 new parking spaces to $46 million project currently under construction on Genesee Street.

"It's a matter of need," said Therese Hickok, Uniland senior marketing manager.

The 140,000-square-foot building is expected to house more than 700 workers when it opens in the summer of 2014.

Current plans call for the building's ramp to include 628 parking spaces.

The additional spaces may require Uniland to add another level to the parking ramp.

Final plans are still being tweaked before they are presented to the planning board Tuesday morning.
