Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) - Western New Yorkers got a taste of some of the best wings in town for free at the kick-off party for the 10th annual National Buffalo Wing Festival taking place at Coca Cola field September 3rd and 4th.

"We've really given a super bowl for chicken wings right here in Buffalo NY," Wing King and Festival Organizer Drew Cerza said.

Jennifer Backes got her free wings.

"I love wings and I'm looking forward to the festival," Backes said.

The self proclaimed "Wing King" Drew Cerza organizes the event and said it's not your ordinary festival.

"We have many great events like wing eating championship with Joey Chestnut, best eater in the world. We'll have bobbing for chicken wings in blue cheese. We will also crown Miss Buffalo Wing," Cerza said.

Last year, more than 70,000 people came from all over the world to get a bit and the venders sold more than half a million wings. It's not only a nice treat for wing lovers but the money goes to a good cause.

"We also raise a lot of money for charity. Last year, we raised over two hundred thousand dollars," Cerza said.

Whether you like original Anchor Bar wings or barbeque or Pesci's Pizza's Ragin' Cajun wings they have it all at the Buffalo Wing Fest. All you have to do is come on down to the ballpark for your favorites.
