BUFFALO, NY (WKBW-TV) - Current Erie County Executive Chris Collins spent his Saturday morning at campaign headquarters where his team was busy making phone calls and hitting the streets.

"We're talking to our supporters and were talking to the public about the issues ," Collins said.

Challenger Mark Poloncarz held a rally with Congresswoman Kathy Hochul this morning while his campaign worked to distribute bumper stickers and pamphlets with his message:

"As you can see people are going out on the streets right now, there are other rallies being held across Erie County, I've got a few more to go through, " said Poloncarz.

Poloncarz has been piling on the endorsements lately including Governor Andrew Cuomo, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, Senator Charles Schumer and now Kathy Hochul.

"The endorsements matter, but the most important endorsement is the endorsement of the voters on election day," Poloncarz said. "I'm very confident that after all the votes are tallied I'm going to come out on top."

Collins says it's more politics as usual with endorsements meaning little as he focuses on the future of Erie County.

"So that contrast with me with job creators in factories and my opponent with career politicians in Albany and Washington," Collins said. "I think it's a message the public should pay attention to."
