Calamar Has Designs on Lancaster Development

Calamar is looking to add to its senior housing portfolio by moving ahead with a proposed project in Lancaster.

The Wheatfield-based developer has filed paperwork with the Lancaster Industrial Development Agency to seek incentives that will provide gap financing for a proposed $15 million Walden Avenue senior housing project. The LIDA will likely consider the incentive request when it meets in April. The incentives would only cover sales and mortgage recording taxes.

Plans call for Calamar to construct a 145,000-square-foot complex on eight acres of vacant land at the corner of Walden Avenue and Juniper Boulevard. The complex will house 120 apartments, all geared for residents who are 55 years of age or older.

The development is similar to ones Calamar has built in Wheatfield and Orchard Park.
