A special report in this week's Business First focuses on education. It shows how nearly every four-year college or university in Western New York is focused on enrolling more international students.
Researchers say, on average, over 16,000 autos cross four international bridges into WNY every day. Now we know where some of that traffic is going - to get a higher education.
Canada was listed as the top country of origin for local institutions.
At UB, top countries for international students are China, India and South Korea.
In all, more than 8,800 international students are enrolled at area schools. That's 10 percent of the student body.
This week's Business First has a list of the top international colleges in WNY, based on the number of international students. UB tops the list with 6,600. Niagara University is next with 745. D'Youville has 426. SUNY Fredonia with 183 and Canisius with 175.
