Pittsford dominated yesterday's Business First rankings of the Rochester Area's middle schools, taking the top two spots.
It's just as successful in today's high school rankings. Its two high schools, Pittsford Mendon and Pittsford Sutherland, are first and second, respectively, in the eight-county region, just as they were in 2011 and 2012.
Rounding out 2013's top five are Honeoye Falls-Lima, Brighton and Penfield.
Business First rated 83 public high schools across the Rochester Area, using four years of Regents test data and graduation rates. All raw statistics came from the New York State Education Department.
Fifteen schools are winners of subject awards, indicating that they rank among the top 10 percent of all Rochester Area high schools in English/foreign languages, mathematics, science or social studies.
Four schools have swept high honors in all four subjects: Brighton, Honeoye Falls-Lima, Pittsford Mendon and Pittsford Sutherland. Three others hold three subject awards apiece: Geneseo, Penfield and Victor.
The Rochester Area is defined as a region that includes Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne and Yates counties. It contains 67 school districts.
Business First has rated schools in Western New York (the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area) since 1992. It added separate Rochester Area rankings in 2010.
