BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) Members of the WNY State Assembly delegation announced today that they have secured an additional $400,000 in capital funding for the Buffalo Zoo's planned "Arctic Edge" polar bear exhibit.

Construction of "Arctic Edge" is expected to cost $18 million dollars and it is seen as being essential to keeping two polar bear cubs (Kali & Luna) in Buffalo.

The Buffalo Zoo has successfully raised $16.6 million dollars for the project, and even though it is still $1.4 million short of its goal, demolition will begin in November of the old polar bear exhibit.

Some of the stone removed will be saved for construction of the new exhibit with work planned to begin in February on "Arctic Edge."
