BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Attorney Paul Cambria will take the city's controversial commingling ban to court on Wednesday on behalf of two Chippewa Street nightclubs and a 19-year-old man.
"Here the city has carved out Chippewa and imposed this burden on them so that people 18, 19, 20-years of age who want to go dance and hang out with people in college who are 21 can't do it," said Cambria.
Last spring, the city banned underage adults, 18-20, from patronizing downtown bars and nightclubs after 10 p.m.
Downtown developer Mark Croce, who owns several nightclubs in the area, supports the city's ban.
"What they're doing down there is very detrimental to the community, it's very detrimental to the other business people and if they want to hire high-powered lawyers to sue the City of Buffalo -- maybe I'll hire a high-powered lawyer to sue them because my customers don't want to come down here and deal with children," he said.
