Cheektowaga, NY

It's the Pussy Willow slap being heard around the world. CNN News Anchor Anderson Cooper slamming Dyngus Day on a segment of his show called the Ridiculist.

"Is Buffalo, New York the Dyngus Day capital of the world?" yelled a man in the crowd.
"Yeah!" yelled back the crowd.

Don't mess with Dyngus Day, especially in the Queen City.

"Mr. Cooper, you don't know! We want you to find out, get your facts, do your research before you start trashing us and making fun of something that is near and dear to our hearts," said Eddy Dobosiewicz, the Co-Founder of Dyngus Day Buffalo.

Isabel Cyra travelled all the way from Corfu to take part in a Pro-Dyngus Day rally on Wednesday, she even offered to make Anderson Cooper a special treat.

"If he comes to Buffalo I will make him perogies!" said Cyra.

The backlash against Cooper came when he featured the Dyngus Day celebration on his Ridiculist.

He couldn't stop laughing about the quirky tradition of boys squirting girls with water and girls returning with a Pussy Willow tap.

"This is stupid," laughed Anderson.

The anchorman tweeted today that he was calling his giggling fit "so stupid" not Dyngus Day.

"He called it stupid. He can spin it however he wants and with a spin machine like that he should run for office," said Dobosiewicz.

Nonetheless, Cooper will be receiving a care package at CNN in the next couple of days filled with polish sausage, butter lambs, Weber's mustard and everything else dyngus.

Cooper went on to say that the holiday was an excuse to drink before Cinco de Mayo.

Dobosiewicz, has been invited to make a special appearance on CNN with Anderson Cooper Wednesday night.
He will officially ask Cooper to be the "Pussy Willow Prince" at next year's Dyngus Day Parade.
