BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Residents in one Buffalo neighborhood are calling for action after a car was swallowed up by a sinkhole.

The hole appeared just after 6 p.m. Wednesday night on Willett Street in the Kaisertown section of the city. Residents say these holes have been popping up all over the area and it was just a matter of time before something like this would happen.

"The problem is the sewer system underneath," said Angela Melendez of the Kaisertown Coalition. "The sidewalks are going and as you can see, the streets are going. Somebody needs to come out and check underneath and find out what's going on."

Eyewitness News were in touch with city officials who say they're aware of the issue.

Crews are on location doing some excavation work and repairs. Officials tell us they will continue to look into the matter.
