BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - An unidentified man was shot by Buffalo Police Tuesday night after officials say the suspect attempted to drive away from a traffic stop and struck an officer.
The suspect is hospitalized at Erie County Medical Center. His name and condition are unknown, said police spokesman Michael DeGeorge.
The pursuit began near Alabama and Exchange when police tried to execute a traffic stop.
At one point, the driver attempted to flee and apparently struck at least one officer, DeGeorge said.
That's when an officer or officers opened fire.
The suspect took off and police followed him to Bailey Ave. between Dingens and William Streets, where the pursuit ended.
The suspect's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
