Buffalo Police Officer In Critical Condition After Accident

Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) - Off-duty Buffalo Police Officer Anthony Douglas has been seriously injured after getting into a one-car accident Friday morning.

Douglas, 57, is a long time veteran of the police accident investigation unit. He was heading south along Main Street near Depew Avenue in Buffalo driving his personal vehicle when the incident happened.

Buffalo Police Spokesperson Michael DeGeorge said he suffered serious injuries and is "clinging to life". DeGeorge said the accident happened about 4:30 a.m.

Emergency crews were quickly on scene and realized the victim was a member of law enforcement. The man was rushed to ECMC.

Retiring Police Chaplain Rev. Kenyatta Cobb told Eyewitness News, "He represents the Police well in all that he does."

The officer was the only person in the vehicle and no other cars were involved with the accident. The incident is still under investigation.
