BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) Buffalo native Kevin Polowy has had an interest in movies all of his life. He started reviewing them for the "NeXT" section of the Buffalo News years ago...and is now considered one of the hippest critics of the big screen in the nation.
His reviews have been featured in USA TODAY, on CBS, and locally on the Shredd and Ragin show on 103.3FM The Edge.
Now, Kevin holds a top position at a new website created by the MTV networks. He stopped by Channel 7's "Eyewitness News This Morning" recently to introduce Ginger Geoffery to the website, and talk about the summer movies from 2011.

June 20, 2011, New York, NY – MTV Networks today announced the appointment of three veteran movie journalists to power the content of NextMovie, www.nextmovie.com, a new cross-platform digital brand celebrating movies, under the leadership of NextMovie General Manager Scott Robson, former Editor-in-Chief of Moviefone and founding Editor-in-Chief of E! Online.
The newly appointed editorial team is comprised of executive editor Kevin Polowy, senior editor Breanne Heldman and senior editor Brooke Tarnoff. Each member of the team is a veteran film and pop culture journalist with extensive digital experience.
Kevin Polowy, executive editor: As executive editor, Polowy will work directly under Robson to oversee the editorial content and voice of NextMovie and create a complimentary experience to MTV Networks’ existing movie content. Prior to joining NextMovie, Polowy was senior editor at AOL's Moviefone.com, where he managed the editorial product and spearheaded such popular franchises as The Moviefone Mash and Dueling Interviewers. Polowy has also been published in USA Today and Premiere Magazine among other outlets. He is also a regular contributor to national broadcast shows including, CBS News and Better TV.
Breanne Heldman, senior editor: Before joining NextMovie as a senior editor, Heldman spent two years as the New York bureau chief for E! Online. There she covered movie, television and celebrity news and events, including premieres and fashion. Prior to E!, Heldman served as a features reporter at the New York Daily News, reporting on topics ranging from American Idol to soap operas to professional wrestling.
Brooke Tarnoff, senior editor: Tarnoff joins NextMovie following two years as an editor at AOL’s entertainment news site PopEater. While at PopEater, Tarnoff created and hosted the popular weekly webcast, Girls on Pop, which featured interviews with some the biggest names in Hollywood. Before AOL, Tarnoff served as TV editor at the entertainment and gaming site UGO.
“Kevin, Breanne and Brooke are invaluable additions to the NextMovie team,” Robson said. “Their passion for movies and pop culture, along with their skill as journalists, ensures that NextMovie will create distinctive and compelling content to serve our growing audience across multiple platforms.”
NextMovie, which launched last fall, has organically grown its web traffic to more than 500k unique monthly visitors and more than 1 million page views per month. NextMovie also has a rapidly growing presence on Facebook and Twitter and launched an app for the iPhone.
