The idea of sharing a car is catching on in Buffalo. Buffalo CarShare is about four years old and now has more than 500 members. The company just added two new cars on the campus of SUNY Buffalo State. Officials say the cars are incentives for students and faculty to find alternate ways to campus instead of driving. The college already provides each student with an NFTA bus pass. CarShare has cars at UB South campus and Canisius College, along with other locations around the city. Its total fleet is 14. Members pay monthly dues and then pay per hour, day or weekend to use a car. Buffalo CarShare hopes to expand with new business partnerships to add more vehicles.

A lot of people are celebrating Fat Tuesday or Paczki Day today, which fattens up profits for area businesses. It also kicks off the busiest season at the Broadway Market. Bakeries have been cranking out Packzis, which are Polish donuts. The tradition says the religious would use up the lard and sweets in the house by making Paczki for Fat Tuesday. The Lenten fast would begin the next day on Ash Wednesday.
