Bringing Awareness to Concussions and Youth Athletes

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW-TV) - Doctors and health professionals throughout Western New York are turning their attention to youth athletes and making the understand the dangers of concussions.

Dr. James Matuszak, Primary Care Sports Medicine with Excelsior Orthopaedics, is performing baseline tests on Amherst Youth Hockey athletes. This is part of their new concussion management program to help inform parents about concussions.

Non for profit organization, PUCCS (Program for Understanding Childhood Concussion and Stroke), is hosting a charity hockey tournament on Sunday November 27 at the Holiday Twin Rinks in Cheektowaga to help raise money for concussion and stroke research among young athletes.
