(WKBW) The search is on for a group of suspected shoplifters who are accused of stabbing two loss-prevention guards at the Boulevard Mall in Amherst.

The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. outside the main entrance to the mall on Niagara Falls Boulevard.

Amherst police say the two guards followed a man and two women outside the mall after they allegedly shoplifted items at a clothing store.

According to police, when the guards confronted the group, the male suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed one victim in the neck and the other in the side. They say both guards are expected to be OK.

Police say the three suspects drove away, but officers later found the getaway car at a local motel.
