Body Pulled From Niagara River

BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) First responders were called to the foot of Porter Avenue at the Niagara River Wednesday afternoon after reports that a body had been seen there.

A dock worker from the Buffalo Yacht Club discovered a body floating next to a dock at the foot of Porter Avenue.

A Dive team member from Buffalo Police will use what is called a "stokes basket" from Buffalo Fire to pull the body from the water.

Buffalo Police issued this release:

Buffalo Police continue to investigate the discovery of a body found floating in the Niagara River near the foot of Porter Avenue Wednesday afternoon. Rescue personnel responded to the call right around one o'clock in the afternoon.

Police believe the male might have been in the water for a few days. An autopsy will be performed to determine an exact cause of death.

At this time, investigators are also attempting to positively I-D the individual.
