On Friday afternoon, June 21, 2013, the East Aurora Police Department was called to investigate the apparent death of a 22 year-old male who was found deceased in Cazenovia Creek, 150 feet below a cliff, in the area of 1700 Davis Road, West Falls.

Lt. Shane Krieger, along with the assistance of West Falls Fire Company, searched the West Falls Town Park, then up the creek bed to recover the man’s body.

Detective Rick Daminski stated their investigation revealed the young man had been in the area along the cliff’s edge, where he apparently lost his footing and slipped into a natural drainage wash at the edge of the cliff, then fell approximately 150 feet to his death.

An autopsy was conducted on June 24, 2013 by the Erie County Medical Examiner who ruled the death was accidental. The man was identified as 22 year-old Luke Tarnacki of West Falls, New York.

East Aurora Police Officers were assisted in the investigation and recovery by West Falls Fire Company.
