LATHAM, NY (WKBW) - A New York Army National Guard UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing near Alfred, NY just after Noon Thursday.

The UH-60 medical evacuation (Medevac) helicopter is assigned to the 169th General Support Aviation Battalion based at the Army Aviation Support Facility at Rochester International Airport. None of the four crew members on board were injured.

The Blackhawk was conducting a routine training flight when one of the two jet engines that power the helicopter experienced a mechanical problem.

A maintenance crew was dispatched to the location on board a CH-47 helicopter that evaluated the problem and is conducting repairs. Officials expect the aircraft to remain on the Alfred University grounds overnight. The helicopter is being guarded by police and university officials.
