BUFFALO (WKBW) It is Black Friday, known as the biggest shopping day of the year. And it hit Western New York once again this year.

Things got started last night, with some stores opening up on Thanksgiving day. It then continued all through the day on Friday, with packed malls and stores, and plenty of sales for shoppers.

"It's amazing. It's so cool," shopper Charissa Johnson said.

"Well I'm glad I'm not getting trampled, so it's cool. I'm having a good time," Adrian Bertolone added.

But stores aren't the only busy places this Black Friday.

Gyms and fitness centers like Crunch Fitness in Amherst were packed with people trying to work off Thursday's turkey and pumpkin pie.

"Just working off all that extra added meal that I normally don't have," Maria Pieri said.

"Yeah my pants fit tight. And it makes me motivated," Bud Stange added.

So if you like sales and deals or the wonderful world of working out, as long as you don't mind crowds, Black Friday is the day for you.
