Fans erupted as Bills beat Patriots on Sunday.
Orchard Park, N.Y. (WKBW) - Some fans said it was like old times as the Buffalo Bills came back to beat the New England Patriots, Sunday. Something they haven't done since 2003.
The stadium was abuzz the entire game but when Rian Lindell made the winning field goal, fans said the it was so loud you could feel the energy. Talking to fans after the game, the appreciation and devotion to the team was obvious. The players said they truly appreciate the support of the fans. Many of them spoke out on Twitter.
"We can't thank Bills Nation enough for being a great 12th man out there. You guys are the best," Linebacker Shawn Marriman said.
Linebacker Nick Barnett also made a cyber comment about the fans.
"Bills mafia showed up bit, thanks for the support," Barnett said.
It's also been a while since players has the winning spirit to jump into the crowd but with the undefeated season, they are doing just that and fans are embracing the gesture. Fans are even trying to find a name for the celebratory leaps. Some are calling it the "Orchard Park Plunge". Other said it should be named "Buffalo Leap of Faith". Now, fans said they are hopeful and many are superstitious. Some fans are not washing their bill attire until the streak is over. Others are growing beards in honor of Ryan Fitzpatrick. There is a mutual feeling of love and support between the players and fans.
They are all hoping the team keeps up the winning streak this Sunday as they face the Cincinnati Bengals in Cincinnati, Ohio.
