Orchard Park, NY (WKBW) - The countdown is on until the Bills season opener against the Patriots. Along with fans, local business owners are excited too.

For some local businesses, football season is the time of year that really counts.

"We're hoping for a very strong start, which pushes business into the store and then hopefully the Sabres," says Justin Heftke, Assistant Manager of Laux Sporting Goods.

At his store, jerseys, T-shirts and hats have been the hot-selling items. Right now, any item with EJ Manuel or CJ Spiller's name on it is popular.

Local bars and restaurants around the stadium are also excited -- this is when they become hotspots in Western New York.

Big Tree Inn, lined with memories of the Bills golden days, is now ready for an entire weekend of big business from both local fans and Patriots fans coming from Boston.

Dan Demarco says, "Between parking and all the campers and out of town people coming in, it's really good -- good to have it back."

O'Neill's Stadium Inn is also beefing up in the kitchen and liquor shelf, making big preparations for game day.

"We're going to do live music and t-shirt giveaways, just building that party atmosphere, because we how hyped up Bills fans will be, especially for the first game," says Benjamin Stack, the bar's assistant manager.

With this year's added hype, they're also hoping for big plays and big business.

"Every body's kind of on this hot spot on this role, so I think we're all expecting big things and I think we're going to expect a busy and exciting day," Stack adds.
