BUFFALO, NY - (WKBW) The Buffalo Bills' coaching search is underway. A team spokesperson confirmed with Eyewitness Sports Anchor Shawn Stepner that the Bills have interviewed former Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt for Buffalo's head coaching vacancy. The 50-year-old has strong ties to Bills Assistant General Manager Doug Whaley. The two men spent time together in the Pittsburgh Steelers organization.

The Bills website is reporting the interview took place in Arizona.

Whisenhunt, who was fired by the Cardinals on Monday after a 5-11 season, coached in Arizona from 2007-2012. He guided the franchise to a 45-51 record and a spot in the 2009 Super Bowl.

Before leading the Cardinals, which was his first NFL head coaching job, Whisenhunt was the offensive coordinator for the Steelers from 2004-2006. He was Pittsburgh's tight ends coach from 2001-2003. Whaley was the Steelers' Pro Scouting Coordinator from 1999-2009.

The Bills fired its entire coaching staff, including head coach Chan Gailey, on Monday. Gailey went 16-32 over his three year tenure in Buffalo.
