ORCHARD PARK, NY (WKBW) - Football fans will find something new at the gates entering Ralph Wilson Stadium this season.

Security personnel are using handheld metal detectors to screen all fans, employees, media and vendors before every home game.

"We're asking fans to really cooperate," said the team's Vice President for Event Operations Andy Major during a news conference on Tuesday, when the team announced the new gate procedure.

"What we'd love them to do is when they come to the gates basically empty their pockets especially their keys and their cell phones," he said.

At Thursday night's first preseason home game, season ticket-holder Jude Buckwald applauded the security measure.

"I think that they have to do it. It's just a part of the world -- more that they can increase security the safer we'll be," she said.
