LANCASTER, NY (WKBW)-Police are now investigating a fatal accident along Walden Avenue near Sheldon Avenue in Lancaster. Investigators say a large dump truck, operated by a 34-year-old man from Tonawanda, was traveling eastbound on Walden Avenue around 8 this morning and was making a right hand turn on to Sheldon Avenue when a collision occurred with a bicycle also traveling eastbound.

"There was a lot of commotion. I quickly called 911 and told them what happened," said Mark Kulick, who works across the street. "I saw the bike hit the dump truck."

The bicyclist, described as a 53-year-old man from Depew, was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital and declared dead a short time later.

"We're still taking statements and talking to witnesses about the status of the traffic light," said Lt. Ron Rozler of the Lancaster Police Department. "We know the bicyclist was traveling straight and when the dump truck made a right hand turn, he turned right into him."

No charges have been filed against the driver at this point. The identities of the victim and the driver were not released.
