WESTERN NY -( release) Some unsuspecting postal customers wishing to change their mailing addresses online have been duped into paying for the service on unauthorized websites. The sites charge customers up to $30 to change an address and, in some cases, the change never gets made.
The U.S. Postal Service does not authorize any other company to process Change of Address requests. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service advises postal customers who wish to file an online Change of Address order to use the Postal Service’s Official Change of Address Form at www.usps.com. The fee is $1 and is collected for security measures; the billing address on the credit card is matched to the one in the address change request.
