Only one WNY school district made the top of today's Business First rankings of upstate New York school districts. West Valley is the only local school district to make the top five for student access.
Business First rated student access in 48 upstate New York counties. Researchers want to know which students have the best chance to interact with teachers, aides, counselors and other educators.
A three-part formula analyzes each district's ratios of pupils with those educators. The smaller the ratio, the better the score.
Here's a look at the best districts for student access:
Hunter-Tannersville in Greene County tops the list for the best student access in upstate New York. Rounding out the top five for upstate student access are Hancock, DeRuyter, West Valley in Cattaraugus County is fourth, followed by Downsville.
One other local district did make the top ten. Canaseraga ranks 10th.
