Best Buy Employee Allegedly Steals Over $21,000 Worth of Electronics

CLARENCE, N.Y. (WKBW) - An Amherst man was arrested following the theft of over $21,000 of electronics of the Best Buy on Transit Road in Clarence.

Police say they received a theft complaint from the manager. According to the manager, approximately $14,000 worth of inventory was missing and unaccounted for.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested Best Buy employee Matthew Kwarta, 24, of Amherst.

Kwarta was charged with Grand Larceny, Scheme to Defraud, and Falsifying Business Records.

Kwarta, who was security supervisor at that Best Buy, was responsible for the theft of $21,169.98 worth of electronics, primarily cellphones and iPads.

Kwarta was arraigned and faces felony hearing on May 2nd.
