Grand Island, NY (WKBW) Loved ones of 28-year-old Bill Sager, the New York Air National Guardsman seriously injured in an assault two months ago, are organizing a benefit to help pay for the costs of his recovery.
Grand Island VFW Post 9249 will host the benefit on Sunday, August 3rd, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 and children under 10 years old are admitted for free. Admission includes food, drinks, entertainment, and one sheet of tickets for a basket raffle. All proceeds will go toward Sager's recovery.
The benefit, operating under the hashtag #PrayforBill, is also offering wristbands and t-shirts to support Sager.
Bill Sager was assaulted at Molly's Pub in Buffalo back in May. The attack left him in a coma, and he remains in serious condition. The bar's manager, Jeff Basil, was arrested shortly after. He's accused of pushing Sager down a flight of stairs at the pub. Basil pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and evidence tampering last week.
