BUFFALO, NY (WKBW)- A new district has been created in Buffalo to help drive beer enthusiasts and tourists to our region. The Binational Alliance along with local developers met Wednesday to unveil the new Buffalo Brewery District. The goal of the district is to create destinations throughout the Queen City through a cross-border initiative. Leaders say tourists can enjoy designated sites and drink a good pint of ale along the way. The main objective is to attract more Canadian and international tourists to the Buffalo-Niagara region.

"We're establishing the foundation for an area where people from all over, who are beer enthusiasts, can visit multiple breweries and sample many different styles of beer," said Phil Internicola, Brewmaster at Pearl Street Grill & Brewery. "It's all within walking distance."

The district is comprised of:

-The Pearl Street Grill and Brewery
-The Lofts on Pearl (A New Boutique Hotel)
-The Lafayette Hotel, along with its Pan American Brewery inside
-The Sportsmen Tavern

There is also talks of transforming the Erie Freight House into a major event center with a tavern.

"There's a lot of negotiations going on and a lot of circumstances we need to finalize. You have to strip it all down and build it back up, but when you do that, it'll be drop dead gorgeous," said Earl Ketry, Managing Partner of Pearl Street Grill & Brewery.
