Canandaigua, N.Y. (WKBW-TV)

57 year old Barry Scutt from Batavia is dead following a wrong-way crash in Canandaigua on Saturday.

According to 13 WHAM, our sister station in Rochester, the accident happened on Route 5 around 3 p.m. when 68 year old Steven Kloos was driving west on Route 5 when he lost control and blacked out at the wheel due to a medical condition.

Kloos then struck a mailbox and road sign with his car according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.

Kloos' vehicle then continued westbound on Route 5 in the eastbound lane and struck 57 year old Barry Scutt head on.

Scutt was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kloos was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital for chest, pelvis and leg injuries and is in stable condition.
