BUFFALO, N.Y. ( WKBW ) Doctor James Corasanti was back in Erie County Court to hear rulings on several matters concerning evidence.
The doctor is charged with vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident, and evidence tampering connected to the 'hit-n-run' death of 18-year old Alexandria Rice on July 18, 2010.
Prosecutors claim the doctor was intoxicated and texting when he hit the teenager with his BMW, as she rode a long-board on the side of Heim Road in Amherst just before 11:30pm
But the defense argued that toxicology reports showed Rice had marijuana in her system, and she was riding the long-board in a crouched position without reflective clothing.
Prominent defense attorney Barry Covert broke down the legal process in this high profile case with Joanna Pasceri on Channel 7's Eyewitness News at 5:30p.m.
