CORFU, NY (WKBW-TV) - Genesee County Sheriff’s deputies and state police are investigating an afternoon robbery at M&T Bank, 1 East Main St., in the Village of Corfu.

The robbery prompted all three schools in the Pembroke Central School district to be placed in a “lockdown,” in which no one was allowed in or out of the buildings, for about 40 minutes. The lockdown was put in place about 2 p.m.

A white male, in his 20's, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt fled the scene on foot and jumped into a 1990's, gray car, four door, with a sloped front.

The suspect passed a note to the teller demanding money and said he had a gun in his possession.

State police, sheriff’s deputies and Corfu Village Police were on location.

The schools were released from the precautionary lockdown and the investigation continues.
