BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - When Erie Basin Marina and The Hatch restaurant at Buffalo's Inner Harbor reopen next season, they will operate under new management, according to Buffalo City Comptroller Mark Schroeder.
Schroeder revealed the details of an audit on Thursday which says the operator, Brand-On Services, owes taxpayers $350,000 in back rent during the past five years.
"We will not rest until the taxpayers of Buffalo get back the money that they are owed," Schroeder said.
The audit could not account for 20,000 gallons of gasoline. The city receives a portion of gasoline sales. Schroeder said Brand-On Services underpaid the city for gasoline sales it did account for, handing over ten cents per gallon instead of the agreed upon ten percent per gallon.
"The taxpayers of Buffalo deserve to know what happened to those 20,000 gallons of gas," he added.
Our calls to Brand-On Services were not returned.
Next season, the city plans to have a different operator run the marina and restaurant separately.
